A wonderful story! Now that my daughter is 2, this is her bedtime story of choice. As we get her ready for bed and I ask what book she'd like to read, we have to smile when she says, "Baby sister book!" We tell her all about when we were waiting for her to be born and remember the first time we held her. The boys will listen in, thinking back to that first day in the hospital when their waiting was finally over.
When the baby due?
A New Sister

This book could be a godsend for gay and bi malesSome men take the path of unbelief, and find that it works for them. Some other men find this path impossible, or inconceivable, and Toby Johnson has written this book for them. As many readers have already said, it can be critically helpful at a crucial point in life.
Highly recommended.
give me more like this one please!
Provocative and insightfulThis book can guide you to that piece. It shows that being gay is a spiritual asset, not a liability. Where some look down on same-sex love as defective, because it does not express the male-female duality, Johnson turns it around and proudly declares that to be the precise reason why same-sex love is spiritually superior. It transcends the duality.
Johnson's vision of a life-affirming, sex-positive spirituality of love, cooperation, mutual respect and acceptance is in sync with modern scientific knowledge, and does not ask the reader to suspend logic or critical thinking. Gay christians who are struggling with their sexual orientation will especially appreciate Johnson's convincing refutation of common "biblical" anti-gay arguments.
A powerful book for personal change, a wonderful antidote to the negativity of the Religious Right, and a great gift to a gay friend who is unhappy with his life or suffering from low self-esteem.

This man was a revolutionary internationalist fighterRead his own words. Malcolm X was a revolutionary.
His Own Words, the Way he wanted them!Malcolm selected, and speeches he wanted in the book. This is the Spanish edition of the the book that begins the series of books by Malcolm X published by Pathfinder Press in collaboration with his family as more speeches, interviews, and talks by Malcolm X have been discovered. The aim here is to put Malcolm X's words first. Read them for yourself. Find out why Malcolmwas a reasoned, passionate, but uncompromising opponent of US imperialism's wars against oppressed peoples, in Africa, in Vietnam, in the Mid-East. Malcolm can really inspire you about the fights we need.
Wonderful that these speeches are available in Spanish!Malcolm X linked the struggle within the United States with the struggles of other oppressed peoples in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Just read his denunciations of U.S. intervention in the Congo, in Vietnam and the Middle East in those days -- and think today of Colombia, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Iran, the Philippines...
I particularly enjoyed the following speeches from this book: "I'm not an American but a victim of Americanism," (University of Ghana, May 1964); "Our problems and those of Africa are the same," (Harlem, November 1964); "Learn to see, to listen and to think for yourself," (Harlem, January 1965); "We seek a solution that will benefit the masses, not the upper class'" (Detroit, February 1965); and the article "The meeting between Malcolm X and Fidel Castro," (Hotel Teresa, Harlem, September 1960).

great uplifting book for kids in alcoholic families
Emotionally enlightening and liberating little book
Wonderful, Mozartian

This is a book that will change the way you look at life! The book goes far beyond a sailing adventure, which is a component of this couple's lives but by no means the whole story.
Miles Clark, the author, is the stepson of Miles and Beryl Smeeton, the subjects of the book. He has told this story with as much accuracy as records and personal experience would provide, along with the affection of a loving son who knew this story had to be told.
It's really about Beryl. She walks/trains/hitches across India, through the Middle East, Europe and back t the UK. In the 30's!
Later she decides that she has to ride horseback through Patagonia, by herself.
During WW II they served separately in Asia, ending up together in Burhma.
It is only after Miles retires from the Army that they bought a sailboat and set out for British Columbia.
Just an amazing story and it's true!
A unique true life combination of love and travel.
A tremendous story that is only enhanced by its truth!
